Using my camcorder at a concert. Need advice!?

I'm going to see Radiohead and want to record some of it on my digital camcorder. I have a Canon Vixia HF 10 and want to know what I can do to flatten the sound so that the bass doesn't mess up the audio track. In so many videos you can barely hear the music. Is there anything I can do?

  1. Presuming they actually let you in with a camcorder - and don't confiscate it (if you hide it, get it past the checkpoint and pull it out later),

Download and read your camcorder's manual:

    http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/contro...

Learn to use the manual Audio Recording Level BEFORE you go to the concert. Refer to page

26 to learn about using the menu,

55 to learn about adjusting the manual Audio Recording Level. Be sure the mic gain level is set so the audio meter does not get into the red when the audio is loud - that is when the recorded audio peaks, clips and sounds like garbage.
