I live in NJ and need to replace the main water line running from my well into the house. I have a 3/4 hp well pump. The water here is eating up my copper pipes so I want to use poly pipe. My question is is the poly pipe rated at 100 psi good enough or do I need to go to 160 psi?

  1. PVC PIPE SCHEDULE 40 IS ENOUGH. (WHITE PVC) THE MAX. PRESSURE FOR A RESIDENTIAL HOUSE SHOULD BE 60 PSI. I DON'T RECOMMEND YOU TO PUT MORE PRESSURE IN YOUR HOUSE BECAUSE A WATER FIXTURE MAY BREAK.

  2. use the 160 psi it is thicker and wil last longer  the 100 crushes easy

  3. i have to agree with the other answers. Normal household water pressure is no more than 60 psi. i would not go any higher than that

  4. Use the Schedule 40 pipe...that should be heavy enough for any pressure you will have.
