Is it correct to use quotation marks inside quotation marks? For example:

"He can bizarre, hilarious, unsettling - even annoying. But he is never the same. He's the anti-Tom Cruise. "Nothing against Tom, but Johnny may be a bigger star now," says director John Waters."

Did I quote this correctly?

  1. Well you wouldn't need the " before nothing if its the same person speaking.

IF there are 2 different people speaking, then do another paragraph.

  2. no. it should be:

"He can be bizarre, hilarious, unsettling - even annoying. But he is never the same. He's the anti-Tom Cruise. 'Nothing against Tom, but Johnny may be a bigger star now,' says director John Waters."

See, inside quotes, you use the apostrophe as a quotation mark.
