Is it ok to wash clothes using shampoo?

This might sound stupid but I'm asking this question because I've hand-washed a pair of jeans with shampoo and now it has an amazing smell that wouldn't fade away! It's super clean too!

Would this work with another material other than jeans? And will it cause harm to the washing machine if I put shampoo instead of the washing powder?

  1. To much soap and oil mixes in shampoo.  Will eventually weaken threads of fabric.

  2. I don't know about shampoo but once in a pinch I did use Dawn Dish Soap. Just a little squeeze or you will have suds EVERYWHERE!!

  3. i think this was in a Three Stooges movie once, you will have suds everywhere. good luck with this...

  4. You would probably be better off using a body soap. Shampoo won't clean it because it's specifically designed to open the hair follicle and clean it. Laundry soap is designed to get the dirt out of clothes. Body Soap is just soap designed to clean the skin of coarse but it is actually stronger than shampoo. SO I would go with body soap. Or just use what I use! Victoria Secret Laundry Soap leaves the clothes smelling so GOOD!!! And you just use a real little bit! So it goes a long ways! And my towels smell so dang good! I usually find it in the store but the best place I've found for the best buy is EBAY!! It's smells like love spell hope you'll like it! Good for your clothes too. It's rated #1 against the top brands!

  5. I have done that in a pinch more times than I can count!!am also told a little conditioner is the best fab soft. you ever wanted to try!
