Using the internet on Wii?

I want to start using the internet on my Wii console (first I need to buy this adapter), but my brother used to play Xbox Live, which uses internet, and it would slow the internet down on the computer whenever he played. So he couldn't play if someone was on the internet, and vice versa. We have AT&T DSL Internet, and I'd like to know if I play on the internet on Wii, if it would slow down the computer, and if it does, what do I need to buy so it wouldn't? We do have a Netgear wired router.

No, it won't slow it down. the Wii connects directly through the router so there shouldn't be anything to worry about~

it may slow it down but get a wireless router,linksys is about $50, and the wii has a built in wireless card, and it will not slow down your computer or your wii or your xbox, which you need adapter for connecting on the internet wirelessly... hopes this helps...
