SOCIOLOGICAL IMAGINATION- the process of linking individual experience with social institutions and one's place in history. By this perspective, people in poverty might link their personal circumstances to the social forces relevant to their present condition.

  1. I'm in school to be a nurse. Historically only woman were nurses and other than being mothers this was one of the only paying jobs (besides school teacher) a woman could get. I'm upholding this stereotype by being a woman in the field. Most nurses are still woman when looking at the trend.

    Hope this example helps a little. I took soc awhile ago. Personally I didn't like it.
