Hi!,

I'm 15 years old and applying for a passport. And I have not the foggiest idea what title to use on my form. Obviously because I'm male, my answer is not gonig to be Miss Mrs or

Ms.

So do I use Mr. or there is a space for writing other titles, should I write "Master" in there?

  1. I find it rather interesting that poster "The Tank" praises the proper use of etiquette and then turns right around and insults people by calling them ignorant. Curious, no? Perhaps this is a peculiar twist of British etiquette that I am unfamiliar with. Then again, maybe I'm just an ill-mannered, brutish American for thinking it's impolite to insult people.

At any rate, use the title of "Mr." as "Master" is rather arcane and will soon be invalid for you anyway.

  2. Unless you have a professional rank ie Rev, Dr or Prof it's best to use Mr, as this could be read as Mister or Master!

Military/Law enforcement staff always use Mr, irrespective of rank.

  3. you just tick (MR) , and you do not tick anything on the other , you leave that blank .

That does not concern you ,

    good luck

  4. i suppose its up to you. you are probably getting confused with females being miss before marriage. i dont think this applies as such to males. Mr will be fine. some people use master for younger males. if you are still unsure i'm sure there will be a contact number that you could ring for help.

  5. Write Mr

Technically you could write master, but by the time you reach 18 you would have to legally change your passport before the expiration date.  That would incur a cost.

  6. Use Mr - you will have that passport for 10 years.

  7. Conventionally, as you're under 18 you should enter "Master".

This would also be the title ascribed to you by an airline when you look at the ticket.

Thanks for asking. It's a neat point of etiquette that would be missed by the majority of the Great Ignorance community  (including the "Politically Correct Brigade").
