Usman Khawaja looking forward to perform against South Africa – Cricket News Update
Australia’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729 is eying to make most of the opportunity he will get during the second Test of the two match series against South Africa at the New Wanderers, Johannesburg in South Africa on Thursday, November 17, 2011.
The Pakistani born batsman is likely to replace injured http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SE-Marsh-c2470, who returned to Australia after injuring his back during the opening Test.
Khawaja made his international debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 during the Ashes series in 2010-11. He impressed one and all with his technique and temperament, but failed to make a big impression in both his outings.
The stylish batsman scored 37 runs in his first ever Test innings and was dismissed after contributing 21 runs in the second one.
Although these scores were not good enough for the youngster to cement his spot in the side, he still earned a lot of praise from the cricket experts all over the world.
However, the youngster needed to score a big one in order to confirm his place in the playing eleven, as there was stiff competition within the team.
Unfortunately for the Pakistani born batsman, he was unable to score a big one, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362 managed to do so.
Now that the latter has been ruled out of the second Test due to an injury, Khawaja has a golden opportunity to make an impression.
The left-handed batsman said, “Every Test match is an opportunity. I would love to take it with both hands and score runs, but I can't promise that. There are a lot of players scoring runs back home. There's a lot of great players in this Australian set-up.”
The talented cricketer went onto say, “I haven't had a massive crack but ... I'm just going to make sure that I treat it like any other game, make sure that I'm fair to myself and true to myself because, if I'm not, I'm going to be regretting it. I haven't
put up a big total yet, (but) I felt really comfortable in all three Test matches.”
