Khawaja, who made his way to the Test team in 2011 after some brilliant performances in domestic cricket, was dropped in the same year after his failure to grab the opportunity with both hands, as the Pakistan-born player made just
one half-century in six Tests.
However, the stylish batsman has done well in the on-going Sheffield Shield season, having scored 438 runs in just six matches, including a hundred and three half-centuries. As a result, Khawaja is in the Australian side once again

Lehmann, the former Australian middle-order batsman, is delighted with Khawaja’s performances but feels that the young batsman did not do justice to his potential by throwing away some starts this season. In the former cricketer’s view,
Khawaja should have registered more hundreds this year as he looked in sublime touch.
“He does have to get big hundreds,” Lehmann said. “He's got four or five fifties for us in Shield cricket and only gone on once to get one hundred. We have spoken about conversion rate and that is a big thing, but he's playing that
expansive game now so he has to find the happy medium. He will do that.”
Khawaja’s only century this year came against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854 under trying circumstances. The left-hander’s knock won his side the match on a pitch where no other batsman scored even a half-century throughout the fixture.
In Lehmann’s views, that hundred is among the best knocks he has seen in Australia’s domestic cricket over the years.
“It was outstanding. It was one of the best hundreds I've seen in Shield cricket. I don't think anyone else made fifty runs. It was really impressive,” the former Test player concluded.
