Usman Khwaja, Callum Ferguson in Australia A side to play England
According to the chairman of the Australian cricket team, batsmen Callum Ferguson and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729 could be selected in the Australian squad for the Ashes. The pair was selected in the Australia A side
which will take on England in the tourists’ last warm-up game before the start of the Ashes.
England take on the hosts Australia in the first Test match of the Ashes from November 25. The Australian squad for first Test match should soon be announced and it could become an interesting race for spots.
Marcus North and Michael Hussey are the incumbents at the numbers five and six but have been under pressure to maintain their place in the side.
According to the chairman, Andrew Hilditch, many batsmen were in line for a berth.
He added, "We are obviously not picking the Ashes squad until next Monday so exactly which ones will feature, we won't know until then.”
In the Australia A squad named for the warm-up game, there was the presence of openers Phil Hughes and Shaun Marsh. Both of them have played international cricket – Hughes played in the previous Ashes while
Marsh played as recently as the first ODI against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 before injuring his back.
The team will be led by Cameron White, who has cemented his slot in the ODI side at number five or six and there was also the presence of Khwaja and Ferguson. Tim Paine will keep the wickets after displacing
many others as the country’s number two wicket-keeper while the bowling attack will see http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mark-Cameron-c1899, Peter George, Steve O’Keefe, Steven Smith and Mitchell Starc. The only one of these bowlers who has a realistic chance of making it to the Australian squad
for the Ashes is leg-spinner Smith.
