  1. A "Mailhandler" had the following dutied typicaly:

Sort mail buy Zip code (usually at a plant)

    Move mail among the machines

    dispatch mail to the docks

    recieve mail from the docks

If you are hired as a PTF, your hours can be irregular and you may have to work holidays, but if you are hired as a regular, or whn you get promoted to regular, you'll have a choice of working you contrated 8 hours, and you get to chose weather or not you work on holidays.

It is stressful because no matter how hard you work, it's never good enough, it just gives others room to slack. Also if oyu do, do a god job your supervisor will take the credit for it and if you slip up, you'll catch h**l.

Don't know if I would say it's boring. There are always people with tons of drama. I've met some of my best friends at the PO, as well as the biggest weasles you'll ever meet.

    good luck

  2. Extemely stressful.Good pay,but not an easy job.My husband is a rural mail carrier in SC.I always thought that mailmen sat in their car all day and delivered mail.NOT TRUE.Package handling, sorting, putting up mail.....along with helping / doing other peoples jobs when he's done with his.Not to mention working all holidays, exept for christmas day,and thanksgiving day(sometimes).Long hours, from 8-12+,with no warning, can consume your whole life, especially around the holidays, when mail volume go up.But like I said, you start around $17 an hour.
