  1. Chances are that it is the BUYER who ripped you off - NOT the Postal Service...

If a package has been opened, one of two things MUST happen:

    1) If it's opened by CUSTOMS (applicable ONLY for items that have crossed the border), they have to apply a label stating that THEY opened (and repackaged) the item.

    2) In ALL other cases - it is the responsibility of the person receiving the package to check if it has been tampered with (as in OPENED).  Once they sign for it, it's too late.

However - any item that HAS been clearly re-taped CAN be received if they are willing to sign a waiver claiming that they are AWARE of what happened (and are willing to to accept it anyways).

As I said above - what LIKELY happened here is that the buyer got the UNOPENED package, and simply doesn't want to pay you for the item(s) inside!

Does this particular buyer have any OTHER reported problems (of this nature) listed under their profile (assuming this was sold through a site like eBay)?

Odds are that a pattern of "problem" deliveries point to a deadbeat buyer...

Luckily, the insurance WILL cover you - that's the very reason it was created ;);););)

  2. They would have to replace the money for the value of the item that was stolen or misplaced

  3. thats terrible. Yea i think they did steal it. I think insurance will cover you though.
