where is the hot/cold water shut off in the house?

M yhouse is fairly new couple of years old, I just need to replace something in the bathtub..

  1. Should be right next to your hot water heater, in my house above and to the left.


  2. The stop (shutoffs) valves for a tub is usualy accessed through the other side of the wall the fixture is on.

  3. it depends.  Old houses had the water main shutoff in the front yard.  Newer houses have the valves hidden in one of the closets, especially if they use PEX water pipe.

  4. if you shut off the valve at the water meter where the main comes into the house it will shut down both hot and cold if you just want the hot off there will be a valve on one or both of the lines attached to the tank

  5. Should be next to the water heater, yea... it also should be labeled. Should being the operative word there....

  6. You will have one at the water meter, and another at the point where the water pipe enters the house.

  7. the water shutoff is normally at the first hose bib that enters the house
