Utah Jazz come from behind to down Brooklyn Nets 92-90: NBA Recap
Utah Jazz erased a 13 point halftime deficit, Gerald Wallace missed a three pointer at the buzzer and Reggie Evans missed a follow up attempt as Utah Jazz escaped with a 92-90 win over the Brooklyn Nets here at the Barclays Center on Tuesday night.
"You make some of those, you miss some of those."  Wallace on his three point attempt to win the game.
Al Jefferson once again led the Jazz, this time with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Maurice Williams collected 19 points while Marvin Williams posted a second double-double for the Jazz with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Joe Johnson scored the night high 21 points, Brook Lopez had 16 points, and Gerald Wallace made only 11 points, going one of 2 from distance.
“Well, we started to guard," Mo. Williams said. "You can make excuses, but I don't think our legs were there to start the game. I thought that once we got going in the second half and we got a nice talking to by (coach Tyrone Corbin), I thought that motivated us and we came out the second half and we dug down." he was referring to the fact that they kept the Nets down to only 33 points in the second half.
Wallace scored a deuce early in the first period to put Nets up 7-3. Williams connected one from downtown for the Jazz, but Brooklyn went for a 5-0 run to go up 12-6. Jazz however kept the Nets in check for most of the period; Williams made a jump shot to put Nets up 24-20 at the end of the quarter.
It was a one point game on 32-33 for the Jazz when the Nets started pulling ahead. A 12-0 run put Brooklyn up 45-32 and they maintained their 13 point advantage till halftime when Wallace beat the buzzer with a shot from downtown to put them up 57-44 at halftime.
Utah started the second half with a 6 nil run to cut the gap down to 50-57, and despite Nets best efforts Jazz kept on chasing. Johnson made a floating jump shot to put Nets by 10 around the mid quarter mark before the Jazz went for a run to cut the gap down to 65-67. Another brace made it a one point game on 68-69 for Jazz but Johnson made a three pointer to put the Nets up 74-70 by the end of the period.
The Jazz meant business in the final quarter, a 7 nil run put them in front on 84-80 with 4:51 on the regulation. Jazz were ahead by 92-88 with about a minute on the clock, when a foul gave away two points to Nets. They however could score no more as Jazz survived with a 92-90 win.
