Utah Jazz cruise to an 85-73 win over Andrew Bogut less Milwaukee Bucks - NBA Recap
On a night when the Milwaukee Bucks were playing with their centre Andrew Bogut, who missed the game due to undisclosed reasons, their erratic shooting from the field led them to a 85-73 defeat against the Utah Jazz.
Bucks failed to net even the easy jumpers and the long range shooting was a disaster. Only Drew Gooden, who led the Bucks with 24 points and 12 boards, seemed to be finding the baskets easily, as he shot 12 for 20 from the field.
Stephen Jackson (16), the only other player who managed to end with scores in double digits for Bucks was 5 for 17 from the floor including 1 for 7 from downtown.
Utah on the other hand, were clinical and took advantage of the poor show from Bucks to cruise to an easy win. Although they committed 24 turnovers in contrast to just 14 from the Bucks, they were far superior in the shooting department.
They outmatched Bucks (48.5% - 30.5%) from the floor, (23.1% - 9.5%) from the long range and (24-16) in assists.
Al Jefferson was the most outstanding player of the night and marshalled the Jazz with a game high 26 points on 6 for 9 from the charity stripe and 10 boards. Paul Millsap too had a good outing and putting up an all round show,
he pounded 13 and pulled down 12 rebounds while Gordon Hayward accumulated 12 on 5-7 from the floor.
Bucks started with an 11-7 spurt but froze in the ensuing passage, allowing Jazz to complete an 11-0 run, capped by Hayward’s driving layup, that marked the start of the Jazz dominance in the game.
Although Bucks pulled it back and brought the scores 16-18, but Jazz finished the frame with a 4-0 run to get themselves in the commanding position again. An 11-4 opening run in the second frame boosted Utah’s lead to double digits
and from there it never faded down throughout.
Bucks showed some fight midway through the third frame and got as close as 51-55, but failed to accelerate from there on, allowing Jazz to get back in the driving seat again.
