Utah Jazz hire Rich Sheubrooks as executive director of global and pro scouting: NBA News
Despite the lockout in the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Utah Jazz is looking to take strides to build a greater future. The Salt Lake City franchise recently hired a new basketball scout Rich Sheubrooks as executive
director of their global and pro scouting. Rich’s will try to select some talented players for Jazz to strengthen their current roster.
After the official announcement of Sheubrooks’ selection, the Jazz’s general manger Kevin O’Conner spoke to the media, “[Sheubrooks’] background speaks volumes for what he does and doesn’t do, I’ve had
a relationship with Rich for a long time. We were just kind of fortunate to be what I consider in the right place at the right time.”
"We feel fortunate to be able to bring someone in with as much international experience as Rich has, Rich's knowledge and background can be a real asset to the Jazz organization in what has clearly become
a global game. We’re thrilled to have someone with his experience and his knowledge on our roster.”
Sheubrooks is considered one of the best basketball professionals in the NBA. He has a vast experience in the league and has acted in different capacities as a basketball professional during his long career.
Rich Sheubrooks had organised the Nike Hoop Summit for 14 years and gained acknowledgement from many basketball executives. He has worked with the Charlotte Bobcats as a director of global scouting for four years. During his four year’s span, Sheubrooks built
a strong relationship with the Bobcats’ owner, Michael Jordan and was the director of Michael Jordan Euro Tour in 2007.
Sheubrooks has a long history working in different European countries. Working as European Sports marketing manager for two years, he gained enough knowledge about the sports environment in Europe. He has
also worked as basketball event manager in Europe for almost four years.
Prior to working for the Bobcats management for four years, Sheubrooks also worked with Memphis Grizzlies as director of global scouting. He spent six seasons with the Grizzlies and established himself
as one of the top scouts in the league.
