Utah Jazz offer Jeremy Evans a three year deal worth $5.5 million – NBA News
The Utah Jazz have reached an agreement with reserve forward Jeremy Evans for a three year deal worth $5.5 million.
Evans’ agent spoke with the Salt Lake Tribune and confirmed that Evans will be returning to Utah for the next three seasons. He is the current slam dunk champion and will be entering his third season in the NBA come October.
Evans has played the previous two seasons with the Jazz. The big was anticipated to be a great talent coming into the NBA and got off to a fine start when he won the Slam Dunk contest at the NBA All Star Weekend 2012. Evans was
added into the competition after New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert was sidelined with an injury. He made full use of the opportunity to amaze the crowd as well as the judges and came away with the victory.
In his two seasons with the Jazz, Evans has not had his big break yet. He played 49 games in the 2010-2011 NBA season and started only 3 of those, while averaging 9.4 minutes per game.  He scored 3.6 points and 2 rebounds on average
per game that season.
The 2011-2012 season saw him playing only 29 games for the Jazz, and he started in none of them. Averaging 7.5 minutes per game, Evans finished the season averaging 2.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per game, a drop from his previous
season. However, in the limited capacity that he played for the Jazz, he was very efficient with a field goal average of 64.3% this last season.
He is one player who has the talent and skills to make it to the next level. Only in his third season in the NBA, Evans has plenty of time to prove his skills in the NBA and rise to an efficient contributor.
A new contract with the Jazz will come as good news for him. The contract signifies the intention of the Utah Jazz to include him in their regular rotation. Evans will get the opportunity to play extended minutes and display his
talents at the NBA summer league scheduled to commence in a few days in Las Vegas. He will be playing for the Utah Jazz’s team in the summer league.
