Utah Jazz star Andrei Kirilenko ready to return to NBA - NBA update
NBA fans, rejoice!
Since the NBA lockout is officially over, players that moved abroad are returning back one by one to participate in the shortened NBA season that is due to commence on the Christmas day.
Tony Parker- representing Villeurbanne in France and Deron Williams, who signed one year contract with Turkish team Besiktas, both have already announced their plans of returning and as per the latest reports Utah Jazz star Andrei
Kirilenko, who represents CSKA Moscow in the Euroleague has also declared his interest in coming back to US and the NBA.
Although no word has come directly from Kirilenko, but a close source has confirmed his plan of making a comeback in NBA.
Kirilenko injured himself severely few weeks back which forced him out of the upcoming games for CSKA. It was a major setback for the team back then and now with the NBA returning back to action, the Russian side might no longer
be able to have the services of AK-47. If that happens, it will be a huge setback to their championship run.
However this was always on the cards and CSKA would have prepared themselves for this because the contract, he signed with them included an opt-out clause.
But being a free agent, Kirilenko will first have to sign a deal with an NBA team.
The question is which team will he prefer?
Chances are that he may rejoin Utah Jazz, the only team he has been affiliated to in NBA so far but according to US media, he will be joining either Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers. Andrei had earlier showed his interest
in residing in Los Angeles which is probably why news relating to him, joining Los Angles teams has surfaced.
Other than these teams, New Jersey Nets is the other team that will be very much interested in acquiring Kirilenko to add some strength to their team. If he does join the Jazz again, he is likely to do it with a hefty contract.
After the departure of Deron Williams, Kirilenko is the only star player left and that might just motivate him to stay.
