Utah’s new coach Tyrone Corbin steps into Sloan’s shoes
A new day, a new coach, Utah Jazz’s former assistant coach, Ty Corbin, steps into Jerry Sloan’s shoes and into the spotlight.
The new coach still cannot get used to the idea of Sloan’s unexpected resignation but he confirmed that the Utah Jazz and Deron Williams are going to stay united.
The coach showed confidence in his team but also added they were still in shock.
The 68-year old had coached the franchise since the day it was formed and had supervised the team for a little more than two decades now.
It will take the team and new head coach time to adjust to Sloan’s absence. Everything changes with the passage of time and so will Utah and the 48-year old Corbin.
The new coach showed speculation over Utah’s game against the Phoenix Suns when he said, “Right now the guys’ heads are spinning like mine is and we’ve got to find some way to get some stability through the game tonight and the next couple of games. Then
maybe we can catch our breath a little bit”.
Williams, who was on the other side of the argument against the respected coach, is in a struggle to shrug off the idea that he is the reason behind the coach’s resignation.
The player, however, did accept the fact that he got into an exchange of harsh words with Sloan during their 91-86 defeat at the hands of Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.
Rumours spread like a forest fire and people were questioning whether Williams was the reason behind the entire scenario. The 26-year old point guard thinks that the rumours are not funny and seems to be upset about the whole idea of his name being attached
to the dilemma.
Williams feels guilty for the argument with the coach but also added that the former coach was stronger than that. Even the coach himself said that he was resigning because he did not have that much energy left now.
The ace said that the situation is quite serious and didn’t understand where all these rumours were coming from. He was quoted as saying, “It’s not a funny situation at all because we lost our coach. But I think it is funny all this stuff gets out there.
I can’t control that nor do I care”.
Teammates, Andrei Kirilenko, and C.J. Miles, also second Williams on those unconfirmed rumours and think that he is not the reason behind the coach’s resignation.
Now, Corbin is all set to take the reins of the team in his hands. Nervous though he may be, the 48-year-old has to carry the torch forward.
