Utkarsh Arora overpowers Aarush Setia in qualifying round: All India Junior Ranking Tournament
India’s Utkarsh Arora proved his superior skills as he defeated Aarush Setia in the Boy’s Singles U-17 qualifying round of the 2011 All India Junior Ranking Tournament, on Tuesday, October 4, in Chandigarh, India.
Utkarsh delivered a tremendous performance in the whole match and finished it in three games by spending 40 minutes in the court. Aarush gave his best but his opponent was too strong to beat for him.
It was a thrilling match which grabbed the attention of the people as both boys put up a strong show of quality badminton in three games. Utkarsh won the opening set but lost the second one. However, he regained his form and bagged the deciding game to win
the battle.
The first game was a battle of nerves in the opening half, as both players displayed wonderful skills and played top-class badminton. Both boys proved that they have the talent and skills which are required to become a top shuttler. Until the break, Utkarsh
was the leader at the end of the first part.
After the interval, Utkarsh continued his better play and dominated the pace of the game in the second part of the set. His impressive net play was the major element which helped him in winning the first game by a 21-17 margin in just 13 minutes.
In the following set, both boys played aggressive badminton and spared no chance of scoring points throughout the game. They executed powerful strokes in all areas of the court but none could manage a clear lead. At the concluding phase of the second game,
Utkarsh played some wrong strokes and lost the game by a 20-22 score in 17 minutes.
The deciding game of this fantastic fight was completely one-sided, where Utkarsh dominated the game from the start and held his grip over the pace of the rallies until the finishing points. He ended the third set in just 10 minutes with a 21-12 score on
the board.
The concluding result of this Boy’s Singles qualifying-round contest was 21-17, 20-22 and 21-12.
