Utorrent a safe program to use?

i recently downloaded utorrent. is it safe to use and can anybody else see what im downloading or hack my computer and see my files?

Many people have used uTorrent and downloaded quite a lot from it and nothing has happened to most of them(no security conflicts or anything of that sort..) and I dont think anyone would be able to hack ur comp. or sumtin like that...it just depends on what torrent u download. So i suppose it is safe to install it.

uTorrent is safe, a lot of torrents are not. People can kind of see what files you have if they are downloading a file you have.

uTorrent is safe to use (it is the most popular bittorrent client) and others have no access to your computer other than the specific files contained in the torrent.  These files cannot be changed or the torrent will reject them, so no one can add malware to a torrent that is clean.

Those active on the torrent with you can see your IP address.  You might want to look into using an IP blocker like PeerGuardian or the built in IPFilter.dat function of uTorrent to block the IPs of anti-P2P groups.

no...you can still download trojans and such but you can read others comments about the torrents and then decide if you want to download it or not...i use the pirates bay as my torrent site of choice

As far as the program goes it is safe. You can download torrents that have  viruses and such in them though, in which case it's up to your antivirus to block that.

Utorrent itself is a completly harmless program.

It is the torrents you download with the program that you have to be careful about.  Never download .exe files and stay away from downloading programs.  Just stick to music and movie files and you should be OK.
