  1. You must use WINE or DARWINE to run uTorrent on OS X.  There is no native version.

    On OS X, you've got several options for bittorrent clients. If you ask me, I would just use rtorrent, but this is a command line client, and not everybody likes the command line.

    Azureus is probably the most feature-rich client available for OS X.

    Transmission is also nice.


  2. A public alpha of the uTorrent Mac version is due out soon.  I do not know how long before a stable version is out.

    Transmission is comparable as a lighttweight bittorrent client.  This article discusses the better clients (including Transmission) and has a link to a setup guide for best speed in Transmission and links for download:
