  1. best thing you can do when you have an error like that is..

    Uninstall Uttorent, then reinstall.

If the problem persists, try downloading a fresh copy.

Right now I believe Uttorent is up to 1.8, and just released the next beta version.

    Hope this helps!!

  2. Some people answered your question already (file being open by the user or another process like an indexing software). I am just recommending you NOT to use BitComet. It's leechware and will get you banned from some trackers.

  3. uninstall utorrent( delete) and start again

    btw use bitcomet instead

  4. Download the torrent again and place it in another folder. Open it, utorrent will say already existing task, continue with updated torrent? say yes and continue....

  5. If you are trying to open the files it is downloading, you will get this error. So leave the files alone while they are downloading. Don't touche them. You might need to restart your computer if you get this error and it doesn't go away after opening files.

It could also be your virus scanner. Your virus scanner might have the file open, and it could be searching for viruses. Not much you can do here, I would not recommend telling your virus scanner to stop scanning files you are downloading via p2p methods.

Or, it could be a desktop search program indexing files. You can tell the indexer to not scan that directory.

EDIT: You do not need to reinstall uTorrent. I think a lot of the people responding think that the INSTALLER you downloaded wasn't opening and you were getting that error.

  6. That issue is usually due to an indexing program (Google Desktop etc) tying up the download folder for uTorrent.  This uTorrent FAQ has a lot more info on this specific error:
