Utorrent says that port is not open?

Question

I am using utorrent 1.7.7 and my current port is 57782. When I test the port it says port 57782 does not appear to be open but still I can download files up to 42kbps and uploads up to 35kbps? I am using linksys WRT54GC and my ISP is 254kbps

wao,you use version 1.7 but there is a new  version of Utorrent uTorrent 1.8 RC7 download from this Link:

i also use utorrent and when i test port  also he says the port is closed or not open but i advice you ti test it anothe time
