Uttoxeter to be inspected before Saturday’s meetings
The officials at Uttoxeter have called for an inspection ahead of the track’s meetings on Saturday.
The inspection will be made early in the morning (08:00 local time). The track officials are pretty hopeful that the show will take place as planned.
In order to make things appropriate for the race, the hurdles have been removed, as it would keep the ground fresh for the event.
Despite being confident about the suitable conditions at the course, the administration refrained from taking any risks, and opted for an inspection.
The Clerk of the course, Charlie Moore decided to take this step, following a threat of overnight frost.
He argued that despite the fact the conditions are fine, the management has decided to call all concerned parties to the venue in order to avoid any sort of misunderstanding.
Talking about the conditions at Uttoxeter, Moore said: “The course is in good condition and all the landings, take-offs and crossing have been covered with frost protection. But it is forecast to drop to -1C or -2C, possibly even -3C, overnight and
I thought it was only sensible to make all interested parties - be it owners, trainers, jockeys or race-goers - aware of what was happening.”
He further added: "I'd say I am 85-15 in favour of racing going ahead. I'm very hopeful."
Uttoxeter is scheduled to host many crucial competitions this Saturday, January 28, 2012. The party will begin at 01:05 (local time), when nine raging contestants will meet in the Dapple Grey Maiden Hurdle.
Boston Blue is likely to be declared favourite in the opening race. The five-year-old will be back to action after almost a month. In his previous outing last month, the horse could not display anything special. However, his connections are expecting
him to return with a bang.
The excitement will continue throughout the day at Uttoxeter. The list of scheduled races includes Jenkinsons Caterers Conditional Jockeys´ Selling Hurdle, the E.B.F./TBA Mares´ Novices´ Chase, followed by Mirror Punters Club Handicap Hurdle, and the
Wisedale Brothers Handicap Chase.
The final two contests of the day will respectively be Chemtech Novices´ Handicap Chase, and Digibet.com Novices´ Handicap Hurdle.
