Uva Next v Yorkshire - Champions League Twenty20 - Qualifying Tournament Pool 2 – Live Score and Update
Uva Next 150/7 (20/20 ov) v Yorkshire 151/5 (19.3/20 ov) - Yorkshire won by 5 wickets (with 3 balls remaining)
With the best domestic teams from all over the world gathered in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 Yorkshire on Tuesday, October 09, at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg.
While both teams had some fine players in their ranks, this was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867’s day as they won the game by five wickets, successfully chasing down a target of 151.
The Yorks chose to give their bowlers a first go on winning the toss, as they wanted to restrict the opponents on a comfortable total.
However, Uva’s openers EMDY Munaweera and PBB Rajapaksa gave their side a fantastic start of 42 runs.
Finally in the sixth over, the Yorks made inroads by nabbing the wicket of Munaweera, who was caught by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Miller-c76318 off Ashraf, after hammering an innings of 22 runs.
Rajapaksa was then joined by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Chanderpaul-c2390, but the duo could take the score to only 56 before Yorkshire secured their second wicket of the day when AU Rashid had Rajapaksa clean-bowled on 24.
The third-wicket partnership between Chanderpaul and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Robert-Border-c43726 McDonald tested the fielders as the batsmen exhibited supreme form by remorselessly smacking the bowlers all around the park.
However, with 94 on the board the partnership met its demise on the wicket of McDonald, who perished after hammering 17 runs off just 16 deliveries.
Yorkshire bowlers then made a rapid comeback by randomly grabbing wickets, restricting the batsmen from posting a tough total.
SA Patterson and MA http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 both shared two wickets each as they pulverised the opposition.
The Yorks had a shocking start to their run chase, losing their first wicket with only 15 on the board.
Then with 47 runs on the scoreboard, star batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JE-Root-c66745 also found his way back to the pavilion after scoring only 11.
However, a 32-run knock by PA Jaques, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AU-Rashid-c1106’s unbeaten knocks of 39 and 36, earned Yorkshire victory in 19.3 overs.
Rashid was named as the Player of the Match for his impressive show.
