Uvb light question?

Ok, so you have all seen those energy effecient light bulbs at stores everywhere, the florecent ones that are curled into a spiral. well these are florecent bulbs, so they give off UVB light right? would these be good for a custom reptile enclosure?

    you can get UVB bulbs at petco/ petsmart.

  5. Just because its a fluorescent bulb does not mean it has UVA / UVB cababilities, so no it would not be good for a reptile that requires UV.

    You need a proper UV light designed for reptiles, this is why are they much more expensive than normal bulbs.

    Also remember to check how often you should replace them for the particular one you buy, most often its every 6 months.

  6. no they don`t give off UVB. UVA andUVB causes skin cancer in humans. So they would not put it in a bulb that people would be useing in there homes. If you are worried about the UVB bulb cost www.reptiledepot.com and www.thatpetplace.com usually have them for half the price of petco.
