  1. I agree with almost everybody who suggests a shotgun for home defense. For one thing, a Uzi will spray bullets all over, and even if you hit the bad guy, there is a chance the bullets will go through the walls and hit your family or neighbors. For another thing, if you're not home, and someone breaks in, they're a lot more likely to take an Uzi than a shotgun. And lastly, if worst comes to worst, and you have to use a gun to defend yourself, the press will eat you up for having a

"machine gun" or "assault rifle", and will play it up like you were out to kill someone on purpose. On the other hand, if someone breaks into my house and meets my grandfather's 60 year old shotgun face-to-face, it could only be spun as the self-defense it actually is.

PS: I agree that law-abiding citizens should be able to own whatever they like, but I have a feeling that right may be in danger after the election, depending on who we elect.

  2. no it is not...

a good semi auti 12 guage with 00 buckshot will definitely be the PREFFERED  home defense weapon.

as a carrying weapon, nothing has the knockdown power of a .44 mag although for ease of shooting a .45 auto is preffered.

  3. no are you expecting an army to come through your door get a good 12 gage.

  4. Uzi's would not make good self defense weapons. I would stick to the shotgun suggestions or a decent handgun.

The uzi though would be just a show piece in my opinion.

If you want some handgun suggestions, let us know. I am not much for shotguns though.

  5. No not really, forget about it.*

  6. its a great self defense weapon. i just am not sure if its legal. where do you live?? oh even if it is legal, i'd stick with a pistol. beretta 92s are super reliable. and idk uzi just seems like overkill

  7. "9 millimeter Uzi."

    'That's ideal for home defense"

  8. No.  Not only does it have a history of jamming, the bullets might go through the walls and glass (such as window glass) and hit people you don't want to hit.  The uzi is an ammo eater and if you miss, you have to reload (maybe 3-5 seconds of ammo on automatic).

  9. i agree that civilians should be allowed to own whatever they want, however a 12 Guage shotgun with a nice 14 to 18 inch barrel, full stock, loaded with buckshot, would make a much better home defense or concealed carry weapon.

an uzi, like all submachineguns, are really just big handguns with higher capacity.  The one benefit I can see is if you treat it like a pistol caliber carbine, but heck, get yourself a shorty AR instead

  10. umm...no not really. It will do the job no doubt, but the Uzi was developed as an automatic handgun for the Israeli army. Take away the full auto capabilities - it's just a 9mm handgun, and an awkward one at that. It's intimidating no doubt, but maybe not much more than a beretta or glock or sig. Personally I would choose a 12 ga shotgun with birdshot and a short barrel. Birdshot is less likely to penetrate a wall and strike another individual in another room. They also have much more power, accuracy, and fewer regulations in most states. For the price of an average Uzi you can get a reliable shotgun.

  11. First if you decide to buy a machine gun, just know that you have to register the gun with the Feds and be able to produce the tax stamp they send you for your $200 after your FBI backround check, whenever an ATF agent wants to see it.

Now that thats out of the way the Uzi is c**p. Its stamped steel, mass produced to be cheep, and its open bolt reduces the accuracy of an already tiny barrel. If you buy the mini uzi its not a problem, but you can feel it in the full sized ones for sure.

If you want a good home defense gun get a wide shot pattern shotgun.

For concealed carry get a pistol. If you talk to guys that have been carrying for a long time you will find you really dont need a great big dirty harry gun and that something about .357 mag - .38 is fine, ideally something that weighs about 12 -16 ounces (about a pound) is perfect. These guns are usually small enough to fit in your pants pocket and conceal easily under the shirt.
