V Polianski clinches Boys 100m backstroke gold: Day four – Australian Age Championships, Brisbane
V Polianski of New Zealand clinched gold medal of the Boys 100m backstroke in the age category of 15 Year Olds on day four of the 2012 Australian Age Championships on Thursday, April 12 at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre.
Polianski faced no trouble in occupying gold medal of the double lap backstroke discipline as he completed his swim in a wonderful time of 58.67 seconds.
His effort was chased by Sebastian Cumins of Surrey Park, who snared silver medal of the discipline by hitting the wall with an effort of 59.42 seconds.
Cumins was chased by Cameron Jones of St Peters Western Swim Club, who settled on the victory stand for bronze medal by posting a time of 59.43 seconds.
Subsequently, Tamsin Cook devastated hopes of her opponents in the Girls 12-13 Year Olds 200m butterfly, where she clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 17.76 seconds.
Cook was trailed by Darian Murray of Western Sprint, who stayed 0.95 seconds slower from her former finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 18.71 seconds. Murray enjoyed an advantage of 0.06 seconds over Chelsea Gubecka, who occupied bronze medal of the discipline by hitting the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 18.77 seconds.
Next was the Boys 12-13 Year Olds 200m butterfly, where Luke Zille of Lefevre Portside proved his mettle for the top position by hitting the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 13.23 seconds.
The 13-year-old was trailed by Zille was followed by Braiden Oates of Academy, who remained almost 2.50 seconds slower and emerged on the finishing end with an effort 2 minutes and 15.61 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Damien Tronc of Logan Vikings, who proved his eligibility for the third fastest spot of the race by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 16.93 seconds.
Furthermore, the session ended after the conclusion of all planned events whereas the medal winners were awarded accolades for their ruthless forms at the medal ceremony of the championship. In addition, the championship will end after two days with the completion of all swimming events.
