V Shem, Khim Wah positive to register their class in Thomas Cup Finals 2012 - Badminton News
Men’s Doubles partners of Malaysia Goh V Shem and Lim Khim Wah may lack experience but they are full of confidence to rise on their toes in Thomas Cup Finals 2012.
World Number 25 duo is making its debut in esteemed team event and will be fielded as second Doubles team against weak challengers from South Africa on May 21, 2012.
They delivered a stunner against Korea in Thomas Cup qualifiers and now they are in high spirits to repeat history in the final episode of the event.
The 22-year-old member of duo, V Shem hoped that they will be able to utilise their valuable experience of past as they are more skilled and equipped with modern game techniques.
He said, “We have played in the team event in the SEA Games and the Thomas Cup qualifying tournament. Our coaches have given us enough exposure and advice to face higher ranked pairs. We will be ready.”
Men’s Doubles expert V Shem also stated that Thomas Cup is a real test for their partnership as they still need more powerful knocks to make their way into the league of extraordinary players.
Meanwhile, the talented youngster unveiled that he idealises Malaysian ace Lee Chong Wei and he will put all in his possession to register his mark in China.
He said, “I have always dreamt of being a top player like Lee Chong Wei and now, Khim Wah and I have the chance to make it.”
The Malaysian duo has elevated its status in world ranking with some remarkable performances in recent past.
They overpowered World Number seven Taipei couple Fang Chieh Min-Lee Sheng Mu in the Asian Badminton Championships before stamping higher ranked Indonesians Mohammad Ahsan and Bona Septano in India Open this year.
The 23-year-old shuttler Khim Wah is also positive to continue this success run by joining hands with his partner in their first appearance in Thomas Cup Finals.
He said, “We have beaten some big names this year and now, we must pull off the same feat to make it a memorable first Thomas Cup Finals outing for us.”
They will find hardly any resistance from African rivals but their encounter with Danes will be a real test of their skills as they are expected to meet either World Number 16 pair Jonas Rasmussen-Mads Conrad Petersen or a unique partnership of Rasmussen
and Joachim Fischer Nielsen.
