V Suwannachet captures Girls 400m IM gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
V Suwannachet of Thailand captured gold medal of the Girls 400m Individual Medley (IM) in 16-year-olds category on day three of the 2013 GHSF Australian Age Swimming Championships in SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Adelaide on Wednesday, April 10.
The 16-year-old Suwannachet showed no mercy to her opponents in the eight-lap discipline and cruised her way towards the finishing end for gold medal. She remained prominently ahead of her following swimmer and secured the title.
She gained a full body length lead over her closest competitor and cruised her way towards the finishing wall for first position with the timing of 4 minutes and 48.34 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Kiah Melverton of TSS Aquatics, who was 1.16 seconds slower and tapped the wall for silver medal with the timing of 4 minutes and 49.50 seconds.
The second best finisher was followed by Meg Bailey of Hunter, who was almost three seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 52.44 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Eliza Ham of Nunawading, who was 3.10 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and hit the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 55.54 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Jade Moody of NU Swim, who was almost two body lengths behind and tapped the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 57.36 seconds.
Moody was chased by Jenna Strauch of Melbvicentre, who was only 0.04 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 57.40 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh fastest spot of the event was obtained by Maddison Dwyer of Carss Park, who remained nearly three seconds apart and tapped the wall with the timing of 5 minutes and 00.25 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Chelsea Unwin of West Coast, who was nearly six seconds apart and posted a time of 5 minutes and 06.33 seconds.
Furthermore, Suwannachet expressed happiness over her victory at the prize ceremony of the event.
