...the car started to judder, as if misfiring. I moved into second to clear it out and the engine stalled. When stationery although the engine turned over as if willing to restart it wouldn't "catch". Approx 5-10 minutes later it started fine and has run ok since. Any ideas please what would have caused this and is it likely to occur again? Thanks

  1. soudns liek a fuel problem, check your filters and fuel pump

  2. Sounds like you have water in your ignition system. Get a can of WD40, spray all the HT leads, coils and electronics to displace the water.

    Ja.

  3. when you get to a roundabout you should go down to first gear. the car was juddering because the gear was too high and you were probably going a bit slow.

do you keep your car in the garage or out on the drive? as it seems it doesn't like being kept outside in all weathers.

  4. It sounds as though you flooded the engine by pressing the gas pedal too hard in too high a gear at a very slow speed.  The engine would stop and not start again until the plugs had dried out.  But to clear it quicker if it ever happens again, you press the accelerator slowly to the floor, operate the starter without moving your foot until the car starts.
