VACUUM PUMP for turtle tank ???????

Is there such thing as some sort of vacuum pump for a turtle tank?

I want to change the water of my turtle tank, but it's suuuuch a hassle removing the water by using a pot and going back and forth to the sink literally 20 times atleast. It's so frustrating.

I really think I've heard of a vacuum pump before. It would be so much easier to have one when changing the water. Yes, I have a filter, but sometimes my turtles get sooo dirty (you turtle owners know what I'm talking about).

Where do you get vacuum pumps??

And how much are they usually?

  1. you need a good filter on the tank..the tanks sounds to small he is going to end up sick ..shell rot, fungus...

  2. Just use a siphon hose.

    They are extremely inexpensive.

  3. I got a python for my tank.

I also got tired of cleaning the water out bucket by bucket like 20 times every week.

And even though the pythons are pretty pricey, they are worth it. You can use it for the rest of your life and it saves a lot of time.

It depends how far away your sink is from your tank. You can get the 25, 50, 75, or 100 foot python.

    Good Luck.

Ps... if you just want to get something to clean out the c**p in the tank you can get a- http://www.bigalsonline.com/StoreCatalog...

But the python is for changing water and the other thing is for cleaning out the stuff in the tank when you dont need or want to change the water.

  4. I use a bilge pump to start a siphon and dump the dirty water into 5-gallon buckets to be carried away. In theory, you could siphon the water out a window into the yard. This might not be a good idea if you are on an upper floor with neighbors who like to sunbathe in the yard. ;-)

  5. wow do i know what ur talking about yes there are aquarium vacuums and yes they work great with turtle tanks know u can find them at pet stores and if they don't have them then ask them and they'll know now I'm not sure how much they'll cost because my dad bout mine with out me but I'd think 15 20 $ but I'm not sure

  6. Your filter is obviously underpowered- a common problem since most pet stores sell mostly junk stuff. Aim for a filter about 2-3 times bigger than your tank, and the bigger the tank, the easier to keep clean.

However, even with a good filter, you should still use a siphon cleaner to remove about 1/4th of the water weekly, focusing on the crud on the bottom.
