VCP beach volleyball course scheduled to end on Saturday – Volleyball news
The FIVB Volleyball Cooperation Programme (VCP) Beach Volleyball Training Course, which started off on Tuesday in Sri Lanka, is coming to an end on Saturday, March 24.
The training course is underway on Negombo Beach, which is located in the north of Colombo. The five-day course has received 28 participants from different parts of the world. The objective of the VCP course is to promote the young talent in Beach Volleyball.
The participants of the course are taught about fundamental techniques of the game, in order to get knack of the sport.
Qatar’s Mohammed Benhamida is also among the participants of the VCP course in Sri Lanka. He already visited the country for a training course in 2011.
Sri Lankan Volleyball Federation is keen on fostering the challenging sport of beach volleyball in the country. There has been great advancement in this regard, in the recent years. Sri Lanka successfully hosted the zonal tournament of the AVC Beach Volleyball
Continental Cup in January, where the home duos seized bronze-ware.
The Federation International de Volleyball has given full support to Sri Lankan Volleyball and the on-going Volleyball Cooperation Course is also part of the effort. This is the sixth training course of the FIVB, which is being held in Sri Lanka. The FIVB
has announced a total of 35 beach volleyball training course in the 2012.
The last five courses were hosted by Haiti, Cote‘d Ivoire, Honduras, and Central African Republic. In the next run, Burundi will host a Level 1 coaching course from April 2-9. Likewise, rest of the courses will be conducted in the coming months. The 2012
FIVB training phase will come to an end with last course in November.
The International Volleyball Authority is trying to create a permanent development impact through these courses. The training courses are especially designed to involve National Federations in the development work. So far, the FIVB has organised courses
in those parts of the world that many would have thought impossible.
The VCP courses have opened the gateway to National Federations to send their players in the international volleyball and beach volleyball competitions.
