  1. Predators in the wild kill other animals out of necessity. Without doing so, they wouldn’t survive. We kill other animals by choice. Our bodies don’t need meat at all. In fact, it has consistently been shown that a low-fat vegetarian diet is healthier than a diet heavy with animal products.

  2. With animals,it is survival of the fittest. They do what they NEED to do to survive. But humans don't NEED meat.

And in the wild, it's a quick kill. Here, it is a bunch of animals stuffed in cramped quarters, no food or water, shot up with drugs, put through extreme pain, scalded alive, castrated with no pain killers, and beaten.

  3. Number one: some animals are obligate carnivores.  This means they must eat meat or they will die.  Humans do not fall into this category and can thrive on a plant-based diet.

Number two: nature designed the food chain to keep populations in check naturally.  Humans opted out of the natural food chain when we began the practice of breeding and confining animals for slaughter.  The food chain does not depend on our killing prey.

Number three: animals kill when they need to eat.  They don't kill wantonly and, as a rule, don't eat other species into extinction.  Humans, on the other hand, have overfished the oceans to the brink of the collapse of oceanic ecosystems.

Number four: we have the capacity to weigh the ethical ramifications of our choices.  With that ability comes the responsibility to do so.

I went vegetarian and then vegan because I don't believe it's OK to inflict pain and suffering on sentient creatures when it's not necessary to do so.  I also chose it because it's better for the environment and because I believe it's healthier for me as well.  You, however, may eat whatever you like.

  4. If it's wrong to eat animals because they are living things, then why is it okay to eat plants, which are also living things?  Or, do vegans eat only plants that have died from natural causes?

  5. the lady whos talking bout supplement people in say india say most women live untill 90 years and have no dissabilitys whitch i know cause both of my great grandmas are alive and the walk about a mile and a half to my moms moms house :P

if you eat a good meal then you wont ever need supplements

i am a vegetarian one thing im not exatly sure if a vegan could pull it off but i mean if icould choose one thing to eat for a month to live on id choose milk :P

ookau now to anser the question i say its more of a choice i mean its okay were better then them that gives us the right sence if you think about it then predetor allways have somithing that the prey doesnt and we have weapons if you wanna eat meat do it but you ll likely i say to get way sickker way faster not many vegetarians get heat diesease you know

  6. thats the thing... its not wrong for people to eat animals thats why god put them on this earth, for us to eat....

  7. Most animals who kill for food couldn’t survive if they eat other animals.. We can take care of ourselves without killing animals and we know better than them. A lot of other animals are vegetarians. Why don’t we look to them as our example instead of to omnivore/carnivore animals?

  8. First of all we do not need to eat animals for survival, most people eat it for pleasure only. Humans cannot process meat and dairy well, that is why humans get sick, die, diseases and other health problem from consuming it. Also, since humans produce and manufacture animals, it is destroying our environment and causes world hunger. If you ever go to a slaughterhouse, and etc, you would see the unnaturalness and cruelty that goes on there. And humans can't eat the animal natural, with just are hands and teeth because we weren't designed that way. If somehow we manage we won't be able to digest the meat. Then I also highly doubt we would go in nature rape a female cow then suck her milk out of her, again animal milk isn't made for humans so therefore problems array. Animals have families, people fail to realize this

Certain animals eating other animals = natural, necessity for survival, easy to process, not so cruel given situation and how.

Humans eating others = unnatural, unnecessary for survival, not easy to process, cruel, damaging to their bodies and the environment.

  9. I see no problem with eating animals personally. Other animals eat animals (omnivores included).

Also, too many vegans/vegetarians end up taking supplements to replace the nutrients they miss out on by not eating meat.

and for those who mention our brain size...dolphins have bigger brains yet they eat fish

and if you look for it, you can find free range meat. you can often visit the farms where free range is cared for if you are that worried about welfare.

  10. animals do not have a choice, it is nature

it used to be that humans did not have another source of protien that is found n meat

now, eating meat is just plain barbaric.

it is the equivalent of biting a hunk out of your arm

  11. Really? We're being asked this question *again*?

Well, first of all, humans are not animals.

Our brains function differently and we are able to make decisions about our diets. Animals, on the other hand, cannot do that. They are hard-wired to eat certain things and they are physiologically equipped to eat those foods.

Giraffes, for example are built to eat vegetation in high locations. I don't see them making a decision to start eating antelope instead. They don't have the teeth, the speed, the claws, etc. etc. to switch up their dietary habits. Similarly, a lion (who does eat other animals) is not trying to scale trees in order to eat what the giraffe eats. He feasts on other animals because that's what he's created to do. He has sharp teeth to tear raw flesh, he has the stomach acid to eat it raw, he has the short digestive tract to synthesize it properly and so on.

Humans do not have the proper body functions to eat meat...we were simply not designed to eat it.

  12. We have a choice, most animals don't.

We breed, cage and manipulate animals all there life specificially to eat them.

We selectively breed and modify thier bodies so they produce unnatural levels of meat

That, to me, is a world apart from a lion instinctively killing a Zebra for its immediate food needs.

  14. Because we should know better. We've been gifted with a greater, more powerful brain than them, so we have a moral responsibility to not harm them.

To Adelina - Dolphins are intelligent...but not as intelligent as us still. We are more evolved mentally and use our experience and have a clue about the consequences of our actions and we have a conscience.

And taking a supplement once in a while (which is not what all vegetarians need to do, it's just that i'm not a big eater) is a small price to pay for knowing an animal that hasn't seen daylight in its lifetime had to be killed.

  15. because we eat excessively, and we have organized systems of mass killing and torturing to get our meat faster. animals kill dont have other food options (some of them), dont take more than they need, dont just eat small parts of the animal, and keep the circle of life going. i think i would eat meat if everyone just ate free range, animals were treated kindly until painlessly put down, and we didnt use more than we need. in reality its very different.

  16. Because we dont HAVE to. And its not just us eating them. We breed, torture, and kill them. When we dont HAVE to. And no offense but if we are so high and mighty why are you comparing humans to other animals. Yea, they aren't smart enough to find a different way of getting what they need, but we ARE smart enough, and we have already HAVE found ways to replace meat. Not even replacing it, but making it look like food meat-eaters would eat so we wouldn't be ridiculed.
