Is grandfather capatilized?

ex. I was off to work on my grandfathers farm.

What about grandpa, granddad, etc.

  2. it shouldn't be capitalized in your example.

  3. Yes it's capitalized. People in your family are always capitalized unless your speaking od cousins or and aunt or uncle.

    If you are making a direct address (as in: "Grandfather, can we go to the baseball game?"), then it is capitalized.  If you are speaking of him in the third person (as in: "My grandfather is the nicest man alive.") it is not capitalized.  

    So in, "I was off to work on my grandfather's farm." it is not capitalized.

    Same thing for grandpa, etc.
