VERY URGENT!!! what might be wrong with my sony CCD-TRV118 handycam camcorder?

every time i insert a tape into it, all of the buttons stop working. there is a beeping noise for about 5 seconds. then this icon pops up saying that im out of tape, even when i put in a brand new one. i did look through the owner's manual, but it says that my problem was caused by water condensation, and may be fixed if i leave it alone for an hour. i tried doing so, but it still doesn't work. why cant my camcorder read the new tape? do you think something broke inside? please, this is urgent, since my sister's graduation is tomorow and i will be needing the camcorder! thankyou so much!

If you think it has moisture, open the tape door, and put the camera under a clamp on style lamp that will put out some heat, not too close, only enough to warm it up.

try 1 hour or more.

make sure the tape is rewound to the start
