Hi all.

I was wondering if Belkin Blue Series PureAV VGA Home Theatre Cable 1.8m is compatible with my laptop which is not capable of any HD showings. I read somewhere that if the cable is showing HD images then it will not work on laptops that are not HD ready so i want to confirm if this is true. Thanks!!!!

  1. Techman2 was correct and if you're unable to get the resolution up that particular setting, you would need to update the driver of your video card located under the "Display Adapters" in your Device Manager.

  2. Yes, the cable is compatible with any laptop and destkop computer  because it is using standard 15-pin VGA cable.

As for HD compatible, that's irrelevant.  VGA cables maximum bandwidth is 1600x1200.  VGA can support 1280x720 (720P), but it would not be able to support 1920x1080.  In the latter case, you would need a DVI cable and video card with DVI output.

There is no such thing as HD ready computers.  Any computer that can output at 1280x720 or 1920x1080 can output an HD resolution signal.  If we are talking about HD TV signals, then your laptop would need to be minimum 3Ghz and have a HD TV tuner.  If you wanted to output, ideally it would have DVI output.
