Question:

VGA camera DIY connection?

I recently (would you believe it) found the top half of a clamshell phone in a pot plant. I took it apart and salvaged the speaker, screen and VGA camera. How would I go about creating a connector for this so I can use it for stuff? How could I make it connect via USB and be recognised as a webcam? From what I've been able to work out, the phone was an old Motorola. The writing on the camera says:

Any ideas? In it's most simple form, I'd like to be able to connect a AA battery and make the camera show it's input on the screen, as a more complex thing, to attach a storage device and have the camera constantly record video to it. I'd be happy to buy stuff, but nothing more than about $50. I hope someone can help!

  1. To tell you the truth, it is probably easier and cheaper to buy a web camera.

I admire your desire to hack it, but without drivers from the manufacturer it may be very hard.  A schematic would be nice as well, so you know where to connect power and the video feed.
