VGA to HDMI (Laptop to HDTV Connection Help)

Question

I recently bought a vga to hdmi cable. I was hoping that I'll be able to watch videos from my computer to my tv. But it doesn't work. Can anyone help me? Please.

For your laptop the easiest (and cheapest) way to do this is to obtain a VGA to component cable. This has a VGA connector on one end (that would go to your laptop) and the 3 component connectors at the other end (Red, Green, Blue) that would plug into your TV. For this setup you would also need an audio cable for sound; it must have a headset plug on one end for the laptop and RCA connectors at the other end (Red, White) for the TV.

After connecting you will likely need to adust the resolution on your laptop to match what the TV likes; you may need your instruction manuals for both devices for best performance.

What computer? what cable? what TV? Model numbers for the electronics and a manufacture and model for the cable will help clear up the issue better.

There is no such thing as a VGA to HDMI cable.  VGA is an analog format and HDMI is digital.  A simple cable cannot convert between the two.

Maybe you mean that you have a DVI to HDMI cable.  That is possible.  If that is the case, I'm not sure why it is not working.

have you got a vga port on your T.V?

If so then you can simply connect directly from your pc to tv, select "PC" on your t.v. and then you have to enable that as a second monitor via your PC.
