I have a couple hairline cracks toward the top of my Shakespear VHF antenna. The antenna is around 8' or so, and the cracks run lenghwise, about 4 inches, toward the top. Will this affect VHF reception? Can I seal the crack with 5200 or something?

  1. Boldly step in to the 80's my friend. Cable tv...

  2. if the cable wrapped around the shaft is not broken, you can seal it with a fiberglass wrap or an epoxy coating.

  3. Epoxy glue but you will be buying a new 1 in time as long a the wire inside isn't broke From when you hit it>

  4. Go to the auto store and get a fiberglass repair kit. Mix up the resin and wrap the cloth around the antenna, saturate it with the resin and let it dry. It will last a very long time and will have no effect on the antenna performance.
