VHS tapes to DVDs....?

Question

If I want to convert VHS tapes to DVDs, does it really matter which product or brand I buy? Does quality play a role in this? Could the product I choose ultimately affect the quality of the footage on those DVDs, or is there no difference in quality no matter what brand I choose?

there is better quality dvds but  I would make sure your dvd recorder will record on the dvds you buy, I had trouble recording on the cheaper general dvds,
