I have been taking vicodin everyday for a month, I have ran out and now it feels like my body and mind are freaking out. I crave pills, I know I am addicted and want more. I have more fun when I'm on them, life just seems better. Without taking them, I am worried I will never feel normal again. Can anyone PLEASE give me some advice? Is this normal? How long do these feelings last? I'm worried that I should be taking something else to taper off and have less anxiety...Please any help would be wonderful, especially if you have been in this situation before.

  2. first i'm an RN IN PSYCH AND THE RX U HAVE IS MORE THAN LIKELY NOT AN ADDICTIVE DOSES.  U MAY BE PSYCHOLOGICALLY ABUSIVE WITH THIS DRUG....U ARE NOT ADDICTED BY ANY DEF MEDICAL OR OTHER WISE...U HAVE EXP A FEELING U NEVER HAD BEFORE AND MISINTERPRET IT AS "FEELING NORMAL".   THER ARE OTHER ISSUES U HAVE GOING ON IN UR LIFE THAT NEEDS ADDRESSING....LIKE WHAT IS IT ABOUT ME I DON'T LIKE THAT I NEED TO ALTER WHO I AM WITH A DRUG....ITS CURIOUS U DON'T MENTION PAIN THE REASON U HAD THE DRUG...WHY?  ITS NOT THE PILL U NEED ITS ADDRESSING THE UNMET EMOTIONAL NEEDS U HAVE.

  3. Ohh Hunney i feel for you, this is a tough one. Usually withrawal only lasts like 3 days but i applaud you for deciding to get off of them. You should contact your Doc & let him know u dont want to be on this drug anymore & just tell him how awful you feel. I think maybe Klonipin or valium would help w/these feelings. Even if he only prescribes a 4 day prescription. I have taken Vicodin before but havent really ever experienced w/drawal. But i was in extrem pain w/out em.. If u cant bear it u might have to go to a Detox place. They will give u things to make u feel better, like Suboxun or something. Sorry i dont feel i was much help. But will be praying for you! HUGS

  4. Tiffany, be glad that you do realize you have a problem. That's the first step. Many people don't realize when they first start taking them that opiates are PHYSICALLY addicting. It's NOT just all in the mind. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about. The withdrawal symptoms from hydrocodone (vicodin) usually last about a week. Depending on the amount you have been taking, your withdrawals may not be as bad, or they could be worse. Is it possible for you to do a taper down to a miniscule dose? I know that's difficult for many people to do. If you decide to do it cold turkey, you can expect about 7 days of withdrawals.

I'm listing a link to a site that has some great resources for you.

There are people here that have been thru the same thing as you, and can offer some great insight. There is also lots of good medical info here.  Good luck to you dear.

  5. unless you actually go threw withdrawal symptoms then it is all in your head.  Such as nausea, headaches, chills, fever.

  6. Talk to your doctor about it.  Those feelings will go away over time though.  I am actually taking vicodin right now as well, had my impacted wisdom teeth removed yesterday.
