VIC’s Davenport Wright claims two gold titles at the Australian Age Championships
One of the most captivating performances at the Australian Age Championships were seen from VIC’s M Davenport Wright, who picked up the 2 golden medals in the Boys 12/13 events at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Adelaide, last month.
Firstly, Davenport Wright nabbed the Boys 12/13 years 400m freestyle title with a sterling time of 4:12.65 minutes. Meanwhile, J Parrish of QLD took the silver with a matchless time of 4:14.62 minutes and his team-mate, D Richardson rounded out the top three
in 4:15.47 minutes.
Davenport Wright was extremely excited and jubilant after his performance in 400m freestyle final. He also clinched his second title in the Boys 12/13 years 800m freestyle with a winning time of 8:46.49 minutes.
On the other hand, J Parrish of QLD rounded out the top two in 8:49.34 minutes and C Sinclair of New Zealand wound up third in a time of 8:59.40 minutes. C Sherington of NSW captured the fourth place in the following race with a 9:00.30 minutes effort. After
clinching two golden crowns in the 400m and 800m freestyles, Davenport Wright took a huge round of applause from the arena.
In the meantime, K Chalmers of South Australia won the gold medal in the Boys 12/13 years 50m freestyle final with a stunning time of 24.91 seconds. N Groenewald of VIC picked up the top two seed in the respective meet with a captivating time of 25.26 seconds,
while his team-mate, N Campomolla wound up third in a time of 25.36 seconds.
Next, the Boys 12/13 years 100m breast-stroke title was captured by W Coetzee of New Zealand with a winning time of 1:11.28 minutes, while C Sinclair of New Zealand earned second spot in 1:11.42 minutes. A Gough of QLD wound up third in a time of 1:11.47
minutes. N Groenewald of VIC grabbed the fourth place in 1:12.04 minutes and J Zuill of QLD finished fifth in a time of 1:12.04 minutes.
C Sinclair of New Zealand won the Boys 12/13 years 200m breast-stroke title with a remarkable time of 2:28.54 minutes, while N Groenewald of VIC snared the silver in 2:30.52 minutes. J Zuill of QLD finished third in 2:32.05 minutes.
The Boys 12/13 years 100m butterfly title was clinched by N Groenewald of VIC with a winning time of 58.89 seconds. Meanwhile, K Chalmers of SA took the second place in 1:00.43 minutes and D Fyfe WA settled third in 1:00.72 minutes.
Finally, D Richardson of QLD took home the Boy’s 12/13 years 200m butterfly crown with a fascinating time of 2:11.67 minutes, while A Ryan of NSW snared the silver in 2:13.90 minutes. D Fyfe of WA earned bronze in 2:14.68 minutes.
