  1. A few people specialize in decoding and providing information :

    http://www.gvgovier.com/

    http://www.allpar.com/

    http://www.stockmopar.com/mopar-vin-deco...

  2. Here's what you need to do:

The VIN tells you what kind of car it is, what engine it came with, what year, what assembly plant, and the sequence number.

However, it doesn't tell you how your car was equipped. That is told by the data plate, which is under the hood. Post those and I can translate 'em for ya.

Otherwise, for a Mopar VIN, you get the following, in order of sequence:

    Model

Price class/trim level (L, M, H, S, and P for low, mid, high, special, and premium)

Bodystyle (23 is 2-door hardtop, 29 is fastback or special, 41 is 4-door sedan, etc.)

Engine (top engine is an "H" for the 340)

    Year

    Plant

    Sequence number

  3. If you already have the VIN for the car, checkout the link below.  It will tell you a lot about the car.  The information is free so you won't need a program.
