just got the viper 791xv installed at a local stereo shop. installer seemed to have trouble installing it took him over six hours. lock and unlock work fine but trunk release doesnt always work i have it set to the AUX button. Also the lock/unlock/trunk release on my dodge key also still works, shouldn't that have been disabled? Anyone noticed it seems to take a lot of force for the shock sensor to go off, i thought it would be much more sensitive, seems to favor one side of my car. I trust the installer but dont think he was familiar with model. Any ideas? programmed wrong?

  1. he did something wrong, i have the same alarm system in my 95 Chevy Burban, n mine works just fine, the guy took two hours to have installed,n its really sensitive, a small hit n it goes off, my  truck didnt have a factory lock/unlock system, but im pretty sure it should been disabled

you might wanna go back n talk to da guy n have it checkd or something,

  2. i had that alarm system on my evo. There is a s***w adjustment on the shock sensor that can change the sensitivity. It also matters what he hung it on (wire harness) and that would favor a certain side of the car most definitely. I say take it back and at least ask him to adjust the sensitivity a bit.

  3. Hard to say about your trunk button.  You might just need to get used to the remote.  No, your factory stuff should still work.  It should not have been disabled.  The shock sensor is probably mounted to once side of the car and may not be as secure as it should be.  I'd ask him to make sure the shock sensor is mounted to a structural piece of the car and not wire tied to something flimsy like plastic or wiring.  And then you'll probably need to have it readjusted too.
