VIRUS? OF FALSE?????????

Hi I just installed a program and I scanned it before with Avira Anti Virus nothing popped up but then I used A-Squared Free Scanner and this popped up 'Trojan-Downloader.Win32.SetupFactory.i' I'm wondering if its a false positive or real?

Also what does this virus do? I can't find it on google.

Chances are the program itself wasn't a virus, but it was made to download viruses onto your computer. Uninstall it IMMEDIATELY.

Try this

doing a scan alone might not get rid of it as scans will not remove infected restore files..

it will probably hide in the system restore as well as other places.

this method is good for other viruses too...

click on tools > delete browsing history > delete all

> check the box, also delete files and settings stored by

add-on's >yes.

start > all programs > pc help and tools > system restore

> system restore settings > system restore > check the box turn off system restore on all drives > ok

then go here and do online scan.this scanner will try to disinfect the offending file if it can't it will remove the file.

then go here and do Clean up Scan

then turn the system restore back to on...

then create a new restore point as your pc will now be clean apart from the last remaining restore point.

then turn off system restore again as it will erase the last infected restore file..

reboot and then turn the system restore back to on...

and hey presto a clean machine...

PS:

turn of your own anti virus when doing the online scan as it may prevent the scanner from removing any infection it finds...

not only that but your own AV system could be infected...

virus software is no good for trojans. Do not rely on these free scan programs they are often more dangerous than the spyware itself. Download and update AVG free from http://free.grisoft.com

This is virus and spyware protection. Scan the machine in safe mode.

And do NOT go to the site or phone the number posted by MIKE. This site and number is a scam. They tell you what is wrong free? Considering they can't even get their own site working and want to charge for everything ($150) I think we should all reoprt any of his answers and get him off here before he does manage to defraud anyone. Conspiracy to defraud actually, 35 years prison.
