Ok I am married to a brazilian and we are deciding to move to brazil for 6 months, to be around his mother. I have my passport but I need to get a Visa from the brazilian embassy in Boston. I dont know what kind of visa to get, because a tourist visa only allows me to stay there 3 months at a time, I have to go for 3 months and then remain in the US for 3 months. then I can return, So I don't want that visa, I need one to be able to stay there longer, do you know what I can do?

BTW I am leaving Sept 22nd, I have my ticket already so I need to be fairly fast! THANKS!

  1. Perhaps a green card or a sight-seeing visa may work.

  2. In general, it is difficult for American citizens to gain visas to Brazil, since the Brazilian and US governments aren't on good terms.

I'm not sure, however, if you need to spend 3 months in America before going back to Brazil for another 3 months.

The only thing I can suggest is instead of going all the way to America every 3 months, go over into Argentina (which allows American citizens in the country for 90 days without them having to apply for a visa), apply for a visa at the Brazilian embassy there, and then go back to Brazil. That way, you wouldn't have to make the long journey back to the States.
