VLJ discussion : are they feasible in australia?

VLJ (very light jets) are a considerable attraction in the USA and europe. Some think they are inevitable in australia, while others think they still have loads of work to do.

  1. The VLJ uses cruise missile engines. GE once said that there was no such thing as a low cost jet engine. That ruled them out of the cruise missile business. The first onces were designed for short use with pressure fed greased bearings.

    But just leave it to the home builders such as members of the EAA. They have built jet powered planes using old helicopter engines with the last stage removed. It flew at Oshkosh.


  2. Doubt they're  feasible anywhere. I see a bunch of  people taking a big time financial bath on this one.
