Hi, I got this remote desktop program called VNC you install on your computer and the other half of the program on the other computer that you would like to remote. Iam not exactly sure what iam supposed to do in order to make it work, and are there any better free programs out there that would give me the same ability as VNC?

  1. Yes, there are many many.. One such example: http://www.uvnc.com/

  2. VNC contains two parts, client and server.

The machine you want to be "remote controlled" should have the server installed.

The machine you want to use as the "remote control" should have the client part installed. It is ok to install the clients on as many pcs as necessary but be choosy about the machines on which you install the server.

Lastly, on the server you need to configure the service (automatically start, server password etc).

From the client machine you need to start the VNC "client" and provide the IP address or name of the server to connect. I think that's it.
